This privacy policy describes how Melissa Cokely ("I", "me", "my") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you visit melissacokely.com or use any course or tool hosted on subdomains of this site (including learn-en.melissacokely.com, learn-es.melissacokely.com, and learn-ca.melissacokely.com).

I am committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable data protection laws.

I collect the minimum data needed to provide the services described below.

When you complete a course on this site

If you choose to receive your personalized summary by email at the end of a course, I collect:

• Your email address
• The language version of the course you completed
• A timestamp of when you submitted the form
• Your consent choices (whether you opted in to receive your summary; whether you opted in to receive occasional related emails)

I use this data to:

• Send you the requested PDF summary (legitimate interest / contractual necessity)
• Maintain a record of your consent (legal obligation under GDPR)
• If you opted in: send you occasional emails about leadership development, AI training, and related learning resources (consent)

When you use the AI triage tool

The text you enter into the AI triage tool is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate a personalized analysis. The submitted text is processed in real time and is not retained by me after the response is returned. Anthropic's data handling is governed by their own privacy policy.

When you browse this site

Squarespace, my domain registrar, and Netlify, my course hosting provider, may collect standard server logs including IP addresses, browser type, and pages visited. These are governed by their respective privacy policies. I do not use additional analytics or tracking on the course pages.

Cookies

The course pages do not set marketing or tracking cookies. The main melissacokely.com site uses standard cookies for site functionality. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings.

How long I keep your data

• Email addresses for transactional purposes only (you opted in for the PDF but not for ongoing emails): retained for 90 days, then deleted.
• Email addresses for ongoing communication (you opted in to receive related emails): retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
• Consent records: retained for as long as required by GDPR (typically as long as the underlying data is held, plus a reasonable period after).

Who has access to your data

Your data is processed by:

• Resend (resend.com) — email delivery service that sends the PDF
• Google — if I use Google Sheets to maintain a list of opted-in subscribers
• Netlify (netlify.com) — hosts the course infrastructure
• Anthropic (anthropic.com) — processes any text you submit to the AI triage tool

I do not sell, rent, or trade your data to anyone. I do not share your data with marketing partners.

All processors listed above are GDPR-compliant. Some are based outside the EU; transfers to non-EU countries are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards.

Your rights under GDPR

You have the right to:

• Access the data I hold about you
• Rectify inaccurate data
• Erase your data ("right to be forgotten")
• Restrict processing
• Object to processing
• Data portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
• Withdraw consent at any time
• Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in Spain: Agencia Española de Protección de Datos)

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@melissacokely.com. I'll respond within 30 days.

Unsubscribing

If you receive emails from me and want to stop, you can:

• Click the unsubscribe link in any email
• Reply to any email with "unsubscribe"

Unsubscribing removes you from the marketing list. If you've also requested a course summary PDF, that one-time email will still be sent.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 16. I do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided data, contact privacy@melissacokely.com and I'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy occasionally. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be communicated to subscribers by email where appropriate.
